While walking across East 23rd Street today………..I discovered a new Italian Osteria.
A restaurant with a contemporary setting but loaded with charm.
What is an Osteria? Originally……in old Italy….a place with simple wine and food. But here you will get high end Italian wines and high end proscuitto as well as fine deli meats.
If you have been to Bologna,Italy………..you will certainly have dated at “Osteria del Cappello”…… it has been there since 1375! True!
Now you can get the same quality…….on 23rd Street……..but here it is prepared “grand-ma style”.
What is proscuitto? A pig or wild boars ham [hind leg or thigh].
Decor added for a “homey” touch.
You may prefer to sit at the counter and watch the chef prepare your meal.
It take about two years to “cure”proscuitto……….and a lot of salt.
The wine bar tables…………a nice place to meet up with friends after work.
Carlotta……..with her adorable accent…… will make sure your meal is a special one.
And your waiter ………..ever so friendly………will guide you in your choices.
Hmmmmm……..this machine is a bit intimidating………..but does add an “UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL” touch!
