New York City STREET ART

Just walking the streets of New York is like going to an art gallery every day.  I love it…………and so does my camera.

I’m in one of the shots……..and so are my friends…….Renate and Marion

SHIRTLESS GOES THE CITY…..so says the New York Times

Today…….the New York Times did an article called “Shirtless Goes the City”.  The question was:  Is a heatwave  a good enough excuse for men to take their shirts off?  New Yorkers answered with  a resounding ……….”YES”.

Is Manhatten becoming a Malibu?  ORLANDO BLOOM was seen walking in Tribeca…..naked above the waist. [Of course, with my physique I would never get caught flaunting my abs and pecs].

I guess we are in a state of “dress down” in America.

So, I took my camera to the street and snapped away.  I saw the NAKED COWBOY in Times Square. I did not find Channing Tatum…..but a few came close. Nor did I find THE ZESTY GUY!  Sorry ladies!

GETTING A READ ON READE STREET

West Broadway and Reade Street……….crossroads in TRIBECA.

This part of Manhattan was practically deserted a few years ago.  Now it is the highest priced real estate in NYC.

Lower Broadway

The view uptown.

Zuckers….offering coffee with a “pucker” at 25% off.

Clever screens to mask out all the road construction [destruction].

This new building is supposed to look like a ship.  Hmmmmm!

We stopped at MARC FORGOINE for lunch.  NOT!

CLOSED !

Open for Dinner…..Sunday Brunch……or Supper.

I get the swordfish……but what is Shabazi?

The bar area……a bit like sitting in a barn……or maybe a Forge, which is a  hearth with fire used for heating the iron.

The dining room is much more pleasant.

A quaint little park on the corner……….

THE JAMES BOGARDUS VIEWING GARDEN

I get the PAINT  PASTE  PAPER…….what’s the PUSH?

The view is UPTOWN

SAZON, neighborhood bar…..featured on Bobby Flay’s THROWDOWN.

You can “network” here on Tuesdays with Tribeca professionals in the game of LAW and FINANCE.

Pop in next door and get your seat recovered………as in “bicycle”.

An example of a cast-iron building…………lots of these in Tribeca.

Some charming buildings have escaped the wrecking ball.

Quaint little fire escapt garden….with French Doors………..a bit of Paris right here on Reade Street.

FRANK GEHRY on Spruce Street

Frank Gehry is definately changing the skyline of New York……with a spectacular new rental building.

His new building on Spruce Street in lower Manhattan at 870 feet  is now the tallest residential building in the western hemisphere.

There are several hundred different floor plans to choose from.

It’s placement in the midst of Wall Street’s ancient architecture is a striking contrast.

The undulating walls create bay windows allowing residents to “step out into space”.

The building is located near the Brooklyn Bridge,Tribeca, the South Street Seaport and Chinatown is just steps away.

There are over 1000 apartments to chose from with one bedrooms about $5000.  A two bedroom [about 600 square feet] is around $6,300 per month. These are located midway in the building.  Add $20 per floor as you go higher…..for the same apartment.

HEADS UP: Is it Graffiti or Art?

The streets of New York are a Museum………..and the entrance fee is “O”.

A faux Picasso…………a poor attempt.
