Waffles were delicious………the company was delightful………..the conversation was all about OPERA.

DINNER on the TERRACE with James and Jack

James and Jack are on their way to the theater to see “THE KING AND I” at Lincoln Center.P1890165

James [singer, actor, dancer] in London is in New York on a holiday.

Jack is in New York on a three month holiday ………. takings a lot of dance classes…….and working as a waiter at Ruby’s Cafe.

Both are having a ball in Manhattan.

Apple galette……….butter crust……….4 varieties of apples…….dried cranberries in cassis………browned butter and demerara sugar.  NO CINNAMON.

Carolyn drove down from Vermont………bearing a goodie basket brimming with Vermont made specialties.  What a delight!

Trader Joe does a sesame loaf that is so fresh …….it nearly melts in your mouth.

Vermont Cheddar and Summer Sausage……yellow carrots…….shredded kohlrabi.

Ultra sweet pflaumen…………mesclun……….and a squeeze of lemon .

The green fish actually gurgles when you pour……….AND sometimes he spits.

Peaches and nectarines…………sherbet and Trader Joe’s Vanilla…….napped with a generous pour of champagne grape juice………….a wonderful finish to a delightful lunch with friends.

 

HAPPY JULY 4TH / 2014

For lunch it was RED, WHITE and BLUE chips from Trader Joe’s.

GILDED LILY wine from King Ferry Winery………..lobster salad from Citarella.

No Macy’s fireworks this year.  They moved the display to the East Side.  Bummer!
