You name it………you want it………you can buy it……….on the streets of New York.

There are over 20,000 vendors………some legal, some not.

A virtual moveable feast……….lots of bagels, donuts, muffins.

ROCKEFELLER CENTER on Christmas Day

This is the famous Rockefeller Center CHRISTMAS TREE with its 45,ooo LED lights.  GLAMOROUS?  Hardly! Thousans of tourists and smokey food carts…… 100 vendors hawking their wares.

It was more like a jungle out there…………or maybe a ZOO!  What a way to celebrate Christmas day………I headed for the nearest subway to get back home!  WHEW!

 

A SATURDAY STROLL IN SOHO

Shopping in SOHO…….a’ jump’ start on shopping for Christmas presents.  Dropped in at the  Crosby Street Hotel for tea………popped into Housing Works [a gay thrift shop] for jewelry…….and the ASTOR WINE STORE for some bubbly.

The CROSBY STREET HOTEL is one of my favorite restaurants is SOHO.  Afternoon tea is a delight.

WINTER’S EVE at Lincoln Square

Tonight at the Time Warner Center…………and in Lincoln Square…..the annual “WINTER’S EVE” kicked off with entertainment…….musicians………tumblers…….lighting of the Christmas Tree, the Polka Dance Band and SANTA CLAUS showed up at Gracious Home.

NEW YORKERS by the thousands showed up for the festivities and the food.

The lighting of the Christmas Tree began at 5:30 in Dante Park.

New Yorkers turned out by the thousands for the first Christmas celebration in the streets.

Every store, bank and restaurant in the area participated in the fun with special activities for kids.

Starting at 5pm………music accompanies the STARS as they change colors.

Mariachi Puebla tooted on their horns……

The Polka Dance Band.………worked up the crowd……..

Lady on her stilts kept the tots amused……and there was face painting with the Big Apple Circus.

Ice Carvers were in front of the Mormon Tabernacle…….buzz saws buzzing.

La Boite en Bois dished out RAVIOLI with leeks, spinach, goat cheese and icotta.  Was it yummy!  No !  Was the server yummy…….YES!

LANDMARC was spooning up ORECCHIETTI ala Toscana.  Was it delicious?  YES 

“Chestnuts Roasting  on an Open Fire”……….$5 a bag……for 5 pieces.

It was a fun evening………even if the weather was cold and damp.

PLAZA HOTEL and views at 59th st.

Just across Central Park……… from my apartment………….is the PLAZA HOTEL and APARTMENTS.  One bedrooms are going from $5mil to $8 mil……up to $50mil for the larger ones facing Central Park.
