DISNEY and MICKEY in Times Square nyc

Times Square is always a hoot.  Thousands of TOURISTS……..[lots of pick-pockets]……..costumed Disney characters……….Broadway Shows……….and zillions of restaurants.  The famous Knickerbocker Hotel was just renovated…….with rooms starting at $550.

CLICK ON THE HORSE…….

You must visit the reborn Knickerbocker Hotel.……..and overnight there if you can spend some big bucks.

LUNCH at the HARD ROCK CAFE

With Spring in the air………time for a stroll through Times Square……….part circus,  part zoo……..but the tourists LOVE it and so do I.  A friend of mine is one of the chefs at the HARD ROCK CAFE………so it was time for a burger.

The BURGER…..8oz of Angus beef……not a great burger……. but edible at $19.

Sandy has turned into the GRIM REAPER.

My terrace that was……and a garden that is no more.

Sandy’s wind and rain wiped out my views of the city.  Ferocious!

During the storm….our superintendent,  Mahir,   had go out in the winds and secure the plastic covering my neighbor, Sally”s, greenhouse.  It was a nightmare!

The “Great Blue Heron’s” new home…….my living room.

My neighbor has 8 of these trees on his terrace……….blew over but not down to the street.

City of WATER DAY Festival in New York City

 

The third annual City of Water Day Festival.……..lets the masses paddle, ferry, kayak,  row,  canoe or swim their way around Manhattan……or you can fish for your diner.  After all………we do live on an island.  

The U.S.Coastguard always patrols around our island paradise.

New York Waterways ferry will zip you over to the shores on New Jersey.

The Carnival Miracle will deliver you to the Bahamas….while you gain 10 pounds at the endless buffet.  It will take another miracle to get rid of the 10 pounds.

The U.S. Navy  flotilla went up the Hudson River……….passing my apartment.

I had a lovely breakfast on the Cheshire Cat.……….tho did not sail with her.

For 25 cents the Staten Island Ferry will take you over and back…..for another 25 cents.

The Circle Line Sightseeing tour will take you past the Statue of Liberty……..[no. it does NOT stop there]………and return you to shore….for a mere $27.

Or Lady of the Harbour…….beloved by immigrants and New Yorkers alike.

There is a FREE ferry that will take you to Fairway Market.….or to the Ikea.

The Boat Basin on the Upper West side……….home to those with a yen for a house that floats.

We spent fifteen winters in Sanibel [Florida]……….so it was fun to see Sanibel in the New York Harbour.

Donald heads straight for the Cafe………….

Relax and read the New York Times……..

Tonight there will be a screening of the 1954 Marlon Brando  classic: “On the Waterfront”. It will be shown on the lawn  of the Alice Austen House on Staten Island.
