The Early Morning SUNRISE………..in my apartment

Every morning I arise just as the sun is doing the same.  The apartment GLOWS.……I sit there with a cup of tea and the New York Times………..and bask in the glow.

I  fell in love with the “pincushion” flower when I visited my dear friend Simmie in Pretoria.  Now I have them year round in my living room.

These little guys are from the POTTERY BARN…………not a gallery in Chelsea.

What does it mean………exam of the cultures of making???  I have no idea!

TITS and ASS……and ART

TITS and ASS.…….. run rampant in New York.  On the streets……in the shops………on the walls of the Art Museums…………not to mention the thrift Shops.  Some of it I buy for my collection……..and a lot of it I don’t…….but I do have fun photographing it.

The Modgliani is my favorite.

ARMORY ART SHOW 2014 * NYC

This year’s ARMORY SHOW was a hoot.  No more lackluster stuff……it was a “blow-out” of wild and wooly.  Screaming women…….smashed heads………..multiple penises…….vintage bicycles……..heads pierce with nails.

New Yorkers with a passion for art turned out in droves.

Collectors, dealers and artists mingled and made deals.

CLICK ON YOUR FAVE to see if it was mine too!

A woman stuffed into a garbage bag by the artist Abigail Deville from her “invisible women” series.

Now, since I too am a collector……….did I buy any art?  DUH! ! !

MY FACE OR YOURS?

WHY do I love New York so.  The variety of people.  The faces.  They are everywhere.  A photographers virtual feast.

This MIME was entertaining in the subway.  He was pissed that I took his photo and didn’t drop a dollar into his hat ……….{he was so awful}.

Magazines, buildings, flea markets, on the street………I come face to face with new faces every day.  I can’t resist snapping a photo.

Is this pensive enough for you?

TITS and ASS

Who doesn’t love TITS and ASS!  And in New York they are on display everywhere.  Art……..paintings and sculpture…….people.  WOW!

So……..which pair is YOUR fave ? ? ?

We now have 103 ART WORKS in the Living Room

There was a street fair today on Columbus Avenue ……….and ART HOUSE sat up a gallery.  It was love at first sight when I saw this painting………..and I just had to have it.  Resistance was futile.  Besides……. I like to support our local starving artists.

YOUNG MAN with TATTOOS by Will Oransky now hangs in my living room along with the other 102 works of art.

P1180917

I think it fits in very well next to  Renoir’s Luncheon at the Boating Party. [ I had to remove  Picasso’s Boy with Grey Pipe to make room for the new addition ].  If you want to buy some paintings for your own apartment…..contact ART HOUSE at…….. 917• 289 0782

KAREN SANTRY…..my artist friend…..wiped out by HURRICANE SANDY

Karen is sooooo talented.  Fine art painter, fabulous fashion illustrator…and a dear friend.

IMG_4683

She is currently Professor of art at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

P1130936

She is also the Vice President of Fashion Art Bank…….a world licensing company for Fashion Illustration.

P1130937

Figures from her Kabuki series………..these are NOT fabric collages…….rather paintings that look like fabrics.

P1130938

All of these beautiful figures…..some 12 feet tall……have all been destroyed in the flood of hurricane Sandy.

P1130943

Karen lives in an Artists Community Housing called WESTBETH……..in Chelsea.

P1130949

Her 30 years of art were stored in two storage spaces if the basement of Westbeth.

P1130953

The hurricane filled the studios with water……10 feet deep.  A tragedy!

P1130955

Karen was also a Lilly Fellow in the Art Dept. at Yale.  She is currently a member of The Society of Illustrators where we meet for lunch.

P1130971

In her studio before it was destroyed by Sandy.

P1130965

Karen was the artist who painted David Bowie in his famous leather jacket. She earned her print making techniques from Andy Warhol.  Hurricane Sandy has not dampened her spirit.  She is an inspiration to all of her Artist friends.

THE LORD OF THE FLEAS………Les Puces

Un Chapeau…with chicken feathers.

The Flea Markets of Paris are fabulous.  But “La Garage” on West 25th street can be just as much fun.  The dealers get there at the crack of dawn…….don’t bother.  There are plenty of “treasures” to go around.

Wanted to take her home………..Donald said “NOT” !

I thought she would look great as a dinner guest out on the terrace.

FACE TO FACE……..everyday IN MY STUDIO

People………family…….and a few critters that I see everyday in my art studio.
