It was a perfect day in New York for a MARATHON.

From my terrace…….Central Park looked so calm……….was hard to imagine 45,000 runners were circling the park.

It is an extraordinary thing to run 26.2 miles………almost a superhuman feat.

Priscah Jeptoo crossed the finish line in 2:25:o7 hours to win first place in the women’s Division. BRAVA!

Geoffrey Mutai crossed the line at 2:08:24 winning the $500,000 prize.

NYC Fire Department……….covered the entire course.

PEDI-CABS were only allowed to line up on Columbus Ave. They parked in the Bicycle Lane……… the cops came along and gave them parking tickets. They deserved it. They had upped the fee for a ride to $10 PER MINUTE…… What a RIP! And the marathoners with the blistered feet needed a ride!

Secutiry Police blocked off all street access to Central Park….the site of the FINISH LINE.
I had to show my I.D. to enter the street and prove that I actually lived on the block.

SANITATION TRUCKS filled with sand blocked off all streets leading to Central Park…………..prevention possible terrorist cars from reaching the MARATHON.

Yes, he crossed the finish line…………and mother was waiting for him on Columbus ave.

This poor guy couldn’t walk another step…….PEDI-CAB to the rescue. 10 BUCKS per minute.

And those skinny little legs carried him the whole 26.2 miles.

The hot dog guys upped the price to$5 for a dog.

He RAN FOR LIFE……….and he DID! He is proud of his achievement………….and so am I.

Runners limp past the DAKOTA….heading for Columbus Avenue were they can rejoin their friends ………..family……supporters.

These two sat down in the closest chairs they could find…….but they did finish the MARATHON.

Handicapped………..but he crossed the finish line.

ORANGE is in………..on the streets in New York………..and in the MARATHON too.

The runners have to walk another mile….down to Columbus Circle before they can get out of the park! Security measures.

OK! “So, where are our husbands”??? “They were supposed to meet us on the corner in front of the DAKOTA.”

The MEDICS were very busy.

MAGGIE the “working dog” guided her master over the finish line.

Thank you MAGGIE………it was a long walk for you too.

Helicopters hovered over the course the entire day. I took this shot from my art studio window. It was that close.

From my terrace I can see hundred of runners who are still crossing the finish line…..it has been 7 hours since the race started. Perseverance personified!
