They even have skeins of lamb’s wool yarn………but I don’t knit!

MAITAKE MUSHROOMS [Hen of the woods]…….$19 a pounds……..but what a “woody” omelet they produce……….scrambled up with an Emu egg.

ROSEMARY’S Enoteca and Trattoria

Greenwich Village has a hot new restaurant…….on Greenwich Avenue and 10th street.

Rosemary’s Enoteca & Trattoria………from Carlos Suarez…..[yes, his mother’s name is………..you guessed it !].  You might remember him from BOBO.

At lunch it is still possible to get a table.  Dinner…….long lines on the sidewalk.

The room is extremely appealing……..large space…..open and very airy when the windows are thrown open.  The basket lights are a nice decor touch…….as are the strings of small bulbs criss-crossing the ceiling.

Andre peruses the menu…….since Rosemary’s is famous for their ” “Rosemary” Focacce.  The water was replenished often……but never with ice.  That will cost you $4 a glass with an ounce or two of tea.

The VERDURE arrives in tiny bowls with just a spoon or two….so order a lot of them…..$5 each.

I had the Caprese and a chopped “Siciliana” salad………tasty but not exceptional.  In fact it had way to many caper berries…….overwhelmed the entire salad.

The usual “wallet” for your bill………is now in a clay pot.  Cute!  Bring your own seeds.

The wines are $10 per glass…..or $40 for a bottle.  These are the same wines at my local wine store for about $12 a bottle.

This bottle of Barolo Cannubi is $320.  The Villa Antinori will set you back $125.

$40…..and it is on ice !

In the evening, the bar is mobbed.  Lots and lots of pretty young women……..

Wade Maiser………[also BOBO]……..is in the kitchen.

If you enjoy watching the meats sliced for your sandwich……..this is the stool for you.

FRESH BAKED………

Rather nice to be able to sit in the window and look at the community garden just across the street.

Your pooch has to wait outside………..but you can throw him a bit of DOLCE.

Try the AFFOGATO…..to die for.

UPON THE ROOF……..a farm! Rows and rows of basil……rosemary ………

Heirloom tomatoes.

The gardener…..pauses to text.

The water cans bring the RED ROOSTER in Harlem to mind………..still one of my favorite restaurants.  Marcus has not let me down with his Southern food.

You will enjoy the atmosphere……..and it’s rather upscale clientele……..YOU are eating where it’s happening!

Mirror, mirror on the wall……….

The bathrooms are in the basement……….UNISEX.  Not wheel-chair accessible.

If all are occupied……….benches are provided.

The community garden…..facing the restaurant…….a quiet place to sit…….on a bench…….but NO FOOD is allowed. ………so do NOT bring your “doggie bag” from the restaurant.

The garden welcomes volunteers to keep it going.  Get out your “green thumbs”.

SUNDAY MORNING at the Farmers Market

On Sunday mornings I head for the Farmers Market on Columbus Avenue…….and go “organic” for my lunch.

CORN…………..organic?  Probably NOT!

I can’t live without okra.  Four pounds please.

Baby squash………….I only want the teeny weenys.

Yellow grape tomatoes………

Lillian’s Yellow Heirloom Tomato.

I did NOT buy the chicken………but did get a dozen eggs.  A bit steep at $7.

Got back to my terrace……the sun was burning off the fog.

The Passion flower vine was radiant.

The rain finally stopped………..

My “natures bounty” derserved to be photographed………….before I ate it!

Saute……..in my Todd English “Green Pan”……..with it’s thermalon coating.  It has changed the way I cook.

Lunch is served.
