Fun in the sun SUNDAY in Central Park

Sundays in Central Park are always a delight……..New Yorkers and tourists……….all “doing their thing”…..or trying to “out do” one another.  Sunning……boating……..running……..bicycling…………reading……eating…………walking the dog………..and slumming.

IT IS ALL THE ENTERTAINMENT ONE COULD POSSIBLY ASK FOR.

Tonight on the great lawn is Movie Time!  HORROR!  THE SHINING.  Thousands will gather for a picnic………wine and fine dine for some.  Others will just bring buckets of popcorn.  It is a warm night…..the stars will be out…….and New Yorkers will get free entertainment.  How great is that!

MARATHON SUNDAY in Central Park

For New Yorkers……it was “business as usual”………..no MARATHON meant ………back to a bit of normalcy for a few hours.

Bow Bridge and the San Remo towers……..both enjoyed the calm after the storm.

Rollerbladers at the Bandshell……..doing their tricks for the tourists.

“Oh my aching back”……….but the Abada Caporeira kids were having a great time.

And her shoes match his shirt………..

Plastic flowers for a Bridal Bouquet………..why not !

Amour……..

They were quite entertaining……….with a hip sound and fine voices.

What is with those “drop drawer” pants?  Actually ……..a hot new fashion trend in New York.

Our geese LOVE muffins……from Pain Quotidien.

Weather was cool……….but picnics rule.

250 trees were uprooted by Sandy.  The city Parks Department worked all week to chop and clear.  Sad to lose so many in just one storm.

Carts for Marathon Officials………still and silent……never used.

From my terrace I could look down to the lake……..and the boaters.

Central Park …………so serene………..unaware that the big “Noreaster” storm is on it’s way on Wednesday.

My day started with bacon and eggs on toast…….shared with nephew Steve from Detroit………in town for a job interview .

Today was the last day to catch the PICASSO AND FRANCOISE GILOT exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery on Madison avenue.

THE SHOW WAS NUMBING…….SO INCREDIBLE.   She lent many works from her own collection of paintings to the exhibition…….curated by John Richardson.

Meet Francoise. She is alive and well and at age 90 living in New York City.

I decided to walk thru the park…..instead of cabbing it to the Picasso Show.

That’s my apt, shrouded with a scaffold and screen…….Hurricane Irene cracked it wide open.  Nasty piece of work !

This Hansom Cab tried to pick me up.  At $100 …..I declined !

Allways begging!  I fed them my toast crumbs.

Over the bridge…..and thru the woods……….to….

BETHESDA FOUNTAIN………

And the Angel pf the Waters…..sculpted  by Emma Stebbins…..and placed in the park in 1873.

Water lilys fill the fountain.

Some try to beat the heat is a boat.

The Gondolier gets a workout in this 95 degree heat.

Miss Ruby and her little “Miss Slippers”.

Dropped in at the Boathouse for lunch.

So how much is it for a bone?

It’s 95 degrees….and she wears a sweater?

The Yacht Pond Cafe………a Perrier stop for sure.

Lots of boats were out today.

My mother also named her…..”Lucy Goosey”.

My favorite horse……….I always ride twice.

“Can I have a ride……..?  “I’m dressed for the occasion.”

We looked up at the building on 5th Avenue where Mary Tyler Moore lives…….and where Pall Mall’s nest has been restored.  The head of the co-op board wanted it REMOVED!

Pale Male was hatched in 1990.  His mate was dubbed…..“First Love”

Rising to 1004 feet is t he new residential tower ……157 WEST 57 th street, by Gehry  Overlooking Central Park……the penthouse was just sold for $90 million.  But there are a few left at $20 mil and UP.

The PLAZA Hotel is still my fave.  Todd English has opened 12 restaurants on the lower level………..but I’ve only tried four.
