BETHESDA FOUNTAIN in Central Park

The Bethesda Angel looks her best in the summer……….  her pool  is filled with water lillies.

In 1868, Emma Stibbens was given the commission to design the largest fountain in NYC..  She was the first woman in New York City to receive such a commission.

A lovely Spring day in Central Park

When the temperature hits 60˚……….New Yorkers abandon their apartments for a stroll in Central Park.  I am right there!

Bethesda Fountain was rededicated this week…….and the Central Park Conservancy turned on the water………….while the “Angel of the Water“………looked down with her approval.

The terrace……an architectural marvel,  has been restored……the tiles and murals are now graffiti free.  The grand staircase connects to the mall.

My apartment……..up there in the tower…….where my daffs  are in full bloom.  They too love the 60˚ weather.

The first “breath of spring” on my terrace.  Violas.  Which I sugar to preserve then freeze the little beauties. In the summer I will sprinkle them on ice cream.
