FARMER MARKET FUN • then Lunch

We schlepp to the farmers market every Sunday morning and load up for the week.

My favorite farmers are always there………..flowers……….veggies……..cheese and fresh fish from Long Island.

When I get it home………….I love to photograph it all before I cook it.

Purple beans with garlic….okra…..fish with grilled squash and tomatoes.

Chickpeas salad……….spinach pie……….and Cosmos.

YUM YUM YUM……….having a “taste” before my guests arrive.  It is 89º today and I am wilting fast!  [The flowers seem to love it].

LUNCH on the Terrace on a lovely Saturday afternoon

Julie is visiting from France so I put together a vegetarian lunch and invited Barbara and Paul to join us.

Paul baked a cheesecake…………it was sublime.

Today at the Farmers Market……….MUSHROOMS

HEN OF THE WOODS………Maitake……..Shiitaki……..such wonderful earthy tastes…………available at my local Farmers Market……….every Sunday morning.

.

I bought three baskets…………dinner will be a medley of “stirfry”.

BAKERS BOUNTY……….where I get my daily bread

The bakery sells their goodies at Richard Tucker Park on Thursdays and Saturdays……..a block from Lincoln Center.

Upper West Siders make it a point to get there baked goods here at BAKERS BOUNTY twice a week…….and Edwardo makes recommendations that will please your palette.

MENU SHOPPING for a Birthday Party

When I plan a party……….the fun is shopping for the ingredients.  I don’t plan it out…..I simply go for the visuals………schlepp it all back to my apartment…….and then start putting it together.

Rosemary and garlic roasted chickens from Citarella.

Coffee beans from Chelsea Market

Fish from Chinatown

Bread from Balthazar

The cake was too much…OUT…..[the doormen got to eat it].  The macarons were over the top……so I ate them.  The pastries made the cut.

I did not serve the PANFORTE di SIENNA.………I bought it because I loved the art on the wrapper.
