DOORS to Stores and Houses in the WEST VILLAGE

Shops, bookstores, Bigelow Pharmacy, Caffe Reggio and the Stonewall Inn are a few of my favorite haunts………they have been here for decades…..and so have I.

The STONEWALL INN was where the GAY LIBERATION began in NYC.  The police raided ………….started to arrest young trannys……throwing them into a paddy wagon……..and for the first time in NYC the gays fought back.  I was there with friends and we rioted all night in the street and  set the trannys free.  The cops were outnumbered………..and the GAY LIBERATION MOVEMENT began in America.

Baby kale salad………quinoa and farrow wheat berry salad……..butternut squash ravioli…….pan roasted branzino………and I had the braised short rib of beef.

For desert a vacharin of exotic fruits and a flowerless chocolate cake.  DIVINE.

ROBERT is on the top floor of the Museum of Arts and Crafts………on Columbus Circle.  Table with a window view……….and a burger to match.

An OCULUS is born ………at ground zero.

The OCULUS.….in front of the new World Trade Center………..a white marble mecca for opulent shopping.  Herme, Gucci, Pucci and one hundred other stores.  You can easily drop $250,000 or more……and have fun doing it.

It looks like a enormous ice skating rink…………but it just 300,000 feet of white Lassa Italian marble…..at a cost of $400 per sq. foot……….and it is a crowd pleaser!

The “go to” place for caviar in Manhattan is PETROSSIAN on West 58th street.

The restaurant is on the ground floor of the Alwyn Court apartment building.

[The Alywn Court was erected in 1908] .

New Yorkers call it the “wedding cake” building].

A friend of mine, Harris,  owns CREAMLINE……and offers American Classics from farm to tray…………with dairy delights from Donnybrook.
