DOUGHNUT PLANT nyc

If you are in or near the CHELSEA HOTEL…………the DOUGHNUT PLANT in the lobby will treat you to celestial delights…..ie,  DOUGHNUTS!

You may need more than one…….maybe the creme brulee…….. or the

tres leches.

$50 a dozen………but worth every bite!

Shopping for a TURKEY on Arthur Avenue

We schlepped up to the BRONX..……to the Italian Markets…….looking for an Italian Turkey……….NO TURKEY……..but a lot of cute Italians.

Arthur Avenue is the place to get your Proscuitto.

I passed on the oysters but got a whole salami……….peppered.

The price for the whole proscuitto was $299……not bad.

Where did we end up??  WHITE CASTLE.  It has been 60 years since I ate one of those……back then they were 12 for a dollar.  Today it tasted just as yukky as it did in 1960.

SUGAR FACTORY • a fix for your SWEET TOOTH

The SUGAR FACTORY [at 1991 Broadway] occupies a PUBLIC SPACE………….which means you can sit here all day long…………with your phone or your laptop or your ipad…….maybe a book…..and you don’t have to buy anything.

You can even bring your own food and eat it in this pleasant surrounding.

I couldn’t resist this $4 donut……..Creme Brulee……….and I ordered one more!

Coffee, espresso, tea, ice cream………  and a YELLOW RUBBER DUCKIE.

Fill a little bucket [very little] with your candy selection……….pay $14……….and satisfy your craving [a little one at that].

CAFE COLLETTE in Williamsburg

CAFE COLETTE remains one of our favorite restaurants in Williamsburg….[there are over 100 now].  Charming ………food is good……….the servers are quirky……so is the bar.

BREAKFAST will NOT disappoint.

LUNCH at Boulud Sud

BOULUD SUD is Chef Daniel Boulud’s vibrant Mediterranean restaurant at Lincoln Center …….and the EXPRESS LUNCH is a steal at $19LINCOLN CENTER

Have a late afternoon lunch and the entire restaurant will be yours to enjoy.

My one complaint…………the chairs are NOT very padded………..so I always bring along my own cushion.

I’m not one to sit at a bar……….but if it your thing…….it is a pleasure to sit here.

I won’t describe the menu………but I will gave kudos to the pastry chef……Anne McGorman………..I always order three just for me.

EATALY MARKET • all things ITALIAN

It really is cheaper than a trip to ITALY..……..for anything and everything that you would find in ITALY.  Lydia Bastianich and Mario Batali have opened a market like no other in Manhattan.  You can spend a little or a fortune and you will love your purchase.

12 RESTAURANTS……….and 20 departments: BAKERY • FISH • CHEESE • PRODUCE • PASTA • BEER • WINE • BEVERAGES • BEAUTY • BOOKS • HOUSEWARES • COFFEE and ESPRESSO

ELEVEN MADISON PARK • Restaurant Re-opens

The restaurant has re-opened after a summer long renovation.  Everything is new…….tables…..chairs……china and booths.  The new look is a great improvement…..and the food……….which was always been imaginative has now reached the level of “sublime”.

The prix fix lunch is $150………$300 with tax and tip.  Dinner comes in at around $600……..to $1000.
