The VESSEL at Hudson Yards

If you want a view of the HUDSON RIVER…..and you want to climh 152 flights of stairs…………and wait in line for your “ticket to climb”……….head on down to West 34th street.

Is it a honeycomb….or a……….New Yorkers are calling it whatever they want.

It weights 60 tons and cost $150 million.

It is part of a new mega-mall on the Hudson River………even Neiman Marcus has opened a store there………….and 30 new restaurants are scattered about the buildings…….all very UPSCALE.   Tres chic…..and expensive.

This is why New Yorkers do NOT eat at Chic-fil-a

And if you work there and they find out you are Lesbian or Gay…

you are FIRED.

BIRTHDAY LUNCH with Friends

Lunch with friends…..at O’Henry’s.  I made everyone wear a silly hat.

$275 GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH

For 40 years this has been my “GO TO” place for steak………the HOMESTEAD STEAK HOUSE.

It was opened in 1868………..and is a bit pricey……….but….oh the STEAKS!

For the GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH you will have to fork over $275 plus tax and tip.  They use cheese that can only be bought at auction in Japan.

Good homemade PEANUT BUTTER is used………….for $89.

MY PORTERHOUSE is still only $125……….enough for two.

Potatoes are extra.

The many layered chocolate cake is standard fare……….but delicious.

HOTEL LUTETIA PARIS…….Renovated for $200 million…..and now open.

In the 1920’s……  guests were Charles de Gaulle, James Joyce, Albert Camus.  Picasso and Matisse lived here in the 1030’s.  In the 1950’s Josephine Baker crooned in the bar.

More recent guests ……..Brad Pitt and Catherine Deneuve…..and the list goes on.

After 100 years………the grand LUTETIA is once again grand.  When I stayed here in 1970….my room was $20 [and that was a lot]……..now it is almost $1000.

Bar Josephine…..Murano glass chandeliers ………new baths.  There are seven signature suites  but those go for $5000 a night.
