WAR and PIECED • Quilts from Military Fabrics

WAR and PIECED.……..the Annette Gero collection of quilts made from military fabrics……is on display at the Folk Art Museum.  They were all made by men using dyed wools from British military and dress uniform.

A young art student was drawing one of the quilts.

The designs are closely associated with the Crimean War, India, South Africa and other regions of the British Empire during the nineteenth century.

The quilts are so visual………..many of them with over 1000 pieces.

HARRY STYLES goes Gucci

HARRY STYLES.……….will he set a new trend in clothes for young men?

My friend, Maddie, flew in from Carmel Indiana just to catch Harry’s concert.  She loved it.

GUCCI will dress him for his upcoming world tour.

Harry isn’t overly sexual…..he doesn’t gyrate or gesture………..but his swag is cool!

In his show at Radio City Music Hall here in New York he told the audience his new MOTTO is “Treat people with kindness” and he asked  the audience to turn to a stranger and give them a hug!  WOW !!!

Maddie thought Harry was totally cool.  The other 5000 girls in the audience probably agree with her.

ABCV the new Vegetarian Restaurant at ABC Carpet

Jean-Georges new restaurant ABCV at ABC Carpet………..is a delightful addition to the NY restaurant scene.  The menu is so precise……..nothing is random………the ingredients of every dish on the menu, as well as the bar drinks,  are all gearged toward your health……..no gimmicks used here.

You will not experience the smells of roasting meats floating thru the air.

The room is so light…….so airy………a touch of color in the lime green chairs……nothing in the decor that will compete with the food on your plate.

An insert in the menu goes into detail of the health benefits of the various plants that will show up on your plate…………colorful…….beautiful………not overly fussy, just ingredients that go sublimely together……….layers of taste sensations that surprise your taste buds.

CLICK ON THE MUSHROOMS:  Huge…..and a dressing charged with yuzukosho.  You are also informed that vitamin B will help manage your emotional and physical stress [who knew this lowly fungus could do that].  The caramelized fennel is a surprising accompaniment.

The pavlova with berries and sorbet is adorned with snippets of “Johnny-jump-up” pansies.
