VERDI SQUARE PARK…………nyc

This photo was published in the NY TIMES yesterday.  Friends got permission from the city to REVIVE a weed patch.

ALEYA LEHMANN is the remarkable lady who revived this park,  It had become known as VERMIN SQUARE PARK……or RAT PARK.  Don and I were there to record the progress.

NUDE SUNBATHERS enjoy my Dish Garden

My garden is covered with SCAFFOLDS……[building repairs]……..so I planted a “DISH GARDEN”.

 The planter is 30″ diameter…….and 5″ deep.

Midge and Mike are sculpted from poly plastic.

It is a perfect place to enjoy a good read.

There is no fear of “Limes Disease” in this garden paradise.

Dwarf plants cover every inch of my garden.

The SCALE of the garden is 1″ to 12″…….so the watermelon is one inch.

I sculpted the cats from FIMO CLAY.

Tiny Tommie……scultped from FIMO……is 4 inches tall….

and he LOVES WATER MELLON.

THE SCAFFOLDS HAVE RETURNED………To my Terrace

AND they will be here for 7 months…….SMDH.

JAPANESE ANEMONE on my Terrace

This summer heatwave is not kind to my terrace garden.  All my plants are in pots…………and they dry out so quickly.

My Japanese Anemone has survived.

I did a watercolor of the flowers this afternoon.

FIGS from my TERRACE GARDEN

Every summer I grow FIGS on my terrace………

Today I picked 6 of my FIGS.

Then I arranged the FIGS in a dotty dish………

This was my sketch for the FIG layout.

Final sketch with a ball-point pen……..6 FIGS

Chose my color pallet for the FIGS.….31 colors in all……..

This is the final watercolor of my FIGS.

Then I pickled the FIGS.………..and will eat them tomorrow with a pork roast.

[My mother taught me how to pickle fruit when I was 10 years old].

MEWS can be Amusing in NYC

If you’re searching for a cute place to live in Manhattan………….consider a MEW.

A lot of them are in Greenwich Village………not as many as you’d find in LONDON…………..but we do have a few.

DESIGNING DIGITAL COLOR at the Cooper Hewitt

The Cooper Hewitt Museum on Fifth Avenue…..part of the Smithsonian………is in the Andrew Carnegie Mansion…….

The Museum itself is as unique as the exhibitions.

Gallery Goer……..and the map of the state of Michigan………

Me…….in the wallpaper room……….in front of a wallpaper that I designed.

Art before digital………and the creation of art today created digitally.

Renate………a fashion designer………is visiting from Paris……..so we toured the exhibit together.

The museum has a garden…..perfect for a lunch break………

The guys are working hard at pointing the bricks on my terrace and I am working hard on the other side…..trying to plant my garden.

Ladies Hat Luncheon in Central Park

The Central Park Conservancy hosts the annual HAT PARTY  which raised $4 million this year.

My friend Molly.……in the white dress and the stunning white hat…….met her friends in the garden for a fun luncheon.

The tables cost $100,000  and the 1200 guests show off their most fabulous hats.

Stephanie March wore a hat designed by Lock & Co Hatters.…..a favorite of Kate Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge.
