OCULUS Shopping Mall at the World Trade Center

The OCULUS………a new shopping mall in the Wall Street Area………..over 100 stores and restaurants……..global brands…….350,000 square feet in the World Trade Center……all designed by Santiago Calatrava.

The white marble floor looks like a gigantic ice skatimg rink.

What I enjoyed the most………JOE and the JUICE up on the mezzanine.

EASTER PARADE • nyc 2017 • Tom and Margo and Jane

We first met years ago in the Easter Parade.……….and have remained friends…….sharing our love for hats………..Easter and otherwise.

Margo made the hats for Jane and herself….POM POMS…..Birdies and Feathers.

Margo and Karan……..sans Easter Hat……..but next year he says………

Fifth Avenue early in the morning before thew tourists descend.

Charming child………eggs and a birdie too.

This group of ladies created some of the most spectacular hats in the parade.

Jane passed out a basket full of lollies and eggs to tiny children in the parade.

I din’t have the time to create a new hat…………luckily I saved the one I made last year.  A German tourist insisted on buying it……….$100……$200……..final offer, $300.

[No. She does not work for United Airlines].

Nancy Kwan and her papermania hat.  We loved it.

I promised them next year I would wear my Easter suit.  This year it was 82º .  HOT HOT HOT

HATS ON PARADE • Easter NYC 2017

FIFTY HATS……out of the 5000 on parade today on Fifth Avenue.  FAB……GLAM……..CREATIVE and lots of outrageous……….but all part of the fun that Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers started when they walked down fifth avenue in their Easter finery.

NYC has BUDDED and BLOOMED

CENTRAL PARK is ablaze with blossoms…….Cherry and Apple.

Artists capture the beauty………

The ELDORADO TOWERS get a great view of the reservoir.

Spring has Sprung in NYC today

It was a 76º day in NYC.  I decided to do a “beach” lunch and pretend I was on Sanibel Island in Florida.

I met a nice family from Sweden this morning at Tavern on the Green in Central Park.  I wish I had invited them to lunch.

The green fish water pitcher…a gift from Margo…..it “gurgles” when you pour!

Platter from Bonwit Teller.

TUNE SALAD with watercress.

Okra….grapes and blue cheese.

Flowers from my local florist.

Lunch at the MET MUSEUM

One of the benefits of membership in the Met Museum is eating in the members dining room.  Pleasant space……….beautiful views over the  treetops of Central Park.

The plating of the food is beautiful…….the taste is beautiful…..the champagne is beautiful……….life is beautiful………until the check arrives………
