ImageThe Bouquinistes of PARIS
The BOOK STALLS of Paris….. are such a part of Parisian……. [ or tourists] life.
If you want the rent a stall…the waiting list is 8 years.
The last time I was there….the Bouquinistes were selling my art prints. They rub them with walnut stain…..and pass them off as ‘antique” to tourists.
The rent for the stalls is 100 Euros per year……..and they have legally set up here along the Seine since 1859.

PAINT by NUMBERS
When I was a kid growing up in Detroit PALMER PAINT was just around the corner from my house. I loved their paint kits.
The local art supply store was the source of my kits………and hours of fun.
For $1.79 I painted away …..canvas after canvas.
This was the numbered canvas…….and the finished dog
WASGIN HAVENITIAN was their artist who painted florals.
THE LAST SUPPER was their best seller……….year after year.
My sister Wini and I painted dozens of these canvases.
For several years I have been collecting PAINT by NUMBER canvases ……..when I see them in Flea Markets.

MOTHER’S DAY was a Washout
It has not stopped raining since midnight……….Central Park is under water…….outdoor cafes are a washout…….flea markets have no customers……and the MOTHERS are drenched. It is not a pretty sight.
DRANSFIELD and ROSS………Designers Extraordinaire
Their designs are………..
mystrieux, EXTRAORDINAIRE, merveilleus.
John Dransfield and Geoffrey Ross have given up their NYC apt…..and moved to the rolling hills of Somerset New Jersey.
The live is a 20 room house called CHERRYFIELDS.
Their favorite thing is to find a treasure at Flea Markets.
There are 7 guest rooms………so you can choose the one you want to sleep in.
This guest room is the favorite of single friends.
Their style in dining is one I like to use in my own apartment.
There are five sitting areas in the house.
Their casual arrangement of flowers is also one that I like to emulate.
The CHAIR………..like no other……….
This is their TV viewing room………oh so comfortable.
I don’t usually like to cover my books with art…..but I do like their choice.
The NAPKINS RINGS are also their design…..and sadly…….they are the only thing I own from their collections.
One of their favorite little sitting rooms……and perfect for a cup of tea.
These photos are by Manuel Rodrigues.
You can see the more of their house on the site of

My 25 Ideas for CHRISTMAS GIFTS
It was a fun day of shopping………….5th Avenue……….a flea market………a silver emporium………and a crafts show. [I am exhauested]. But I did make 5 purchases…………gifts for family…….friends………and my stockbroker!
The TAXIDERMY DEER HEAD………..was NOT among my purchases.
However…………..this Courtly Check Moose Head at MacKenzie Childs did tempt me…………..at $15,000 [cough]………….but it was the $695 delivery charge that killed the purchase.

FACES at the FLEA………renamed the GRAND BAZAAR!
The local FLEA has gotten a lot “grander”……and is now called….the Columbus Avenue GRAND BAZAAR. How bizarre is that!
SASCHA a star at the NYC BALLET [at the Met Opera House] is a regular……..and LARRY who is known as the KING of FLEA…….sets up his stall every Sunday……..rain or shine!
The only thing I bought last Sunday was one MICKEY MOUSE…and one MINNIE MOUSE.
