SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW

We had a very brief shower today in Central Park……….and a DOUBLE RAINBOW……….which I captured from my terrace.

The three building below……San Remo Towers………..the Kenilworth and the Dakota.

CHILDREN of IMMIGRATION

My little friends “THE TWINS” and their little sister CASSIE..…set up their LEMONADE STATION in Columbus Circle last Sunday………and raised $2500 for IMMIGRANT CHILDREN’S RIGHTS.  WOW !!!

Some of their little friends helped them sell the lemonade……at $1.00 a plastic cup!  That’s a lot of lemons………..supplied by COUNTRY TIME LEMONADE.

NY TIMES 1978 photos at the ARSENAL GALLERY

The current show at the GALLERY in the ARSENAL in Central Park………..photographs that were commissioned in 1978. The New York Times asked 8 of their  photographers to record activities in the city’s parks.

Recently……….3000 of these photographs were unearthed….. hidden away in 2 boxes in the Arsenal.

68 of these photos are on display………….

you can see all of them………..until June 14th.

In the summer of 1978 I spent every Sunday afternoon at Bethesda Fountain….wearing my BELLBOTTOMS!

PIGEONS are New Yorker’s PETS

This is the BIRD MAN of Washington Square Park……….he is there every day……the pigeons love him.

The BIRD LADY.……..we adore her and she adores the pigeons.

They always hang out with the horses on Central Park South.

The Angel on top of Bethesda Fountain………..is a favorite perch.

BABY PIGEONS.…………we never see them until they reach adulthood……….which happens in only four weeks.

Some of them end up on our menu………then we call them SQUABS.

HURRICANE WINDS hit my Terrace at 5pm

And then horrendous rains poured down………..threatening the scaffolds which had not been weighted down.

My pots….trees and flowers were tossed about………DAMN!

COCKTAILS on the Terrace • NY Athletic club

The location of the NY ATHLETIC CLUB is so convenient……just off Fifth Avenue and a block from Central Park.

The rooftop terrace is……fun….sun….and cocktails………or tea.

It’s fun to see my apartment  there in the tower in the distance……..from one terrace to another.

Tid-bits are served……….blue cheese bruschetta with mango for starters.

CAKEBREAD CELLARS………….ordered that just because the name is so amusing.

Ladies Hat Luncheon in Central Park

The Central Park Conservancy hosts the annual HAT PARTY  which raised $4 million this year.

My friend Molly.……in the white dress and the stunning white hat…….met her friends in the garden for a fun luncheon.

The tables cost $100,000  and the 1200 guests show off their most fabulous hats.

Stephanie March wore a hat designed by Lock & Co Hatters.…..a favorite of Kate Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge.
