THE NEW YORKER • cover for Aug. 28, 2017

David Plunkert was compelled to take up his pen this week.  He seldom takes up political matters but he has designed this cover in response to the violence that took place in Charlottesville Virginia this week.

 

CENTRAL PARK PEOPLE having fun in the Sun

Every moment spent in Central Park is full of amusement Clowns……dancers………singers………artists……………..brides and grooms………dog walkers……….a little bit of everything.


RESTAURANT WEEK in NYC

It is the week where you can dine in the finest of New York’s restaurants………… three course Lunch 29.95!

ASIATE Restaurant……. in the Oriental Manderin Hotel on Columbus Circle.

OH THAT VIEW……….Central park and Columbus Circle.

You can wait in the bar of you get there too early……… and gaze upon a  PATCHOULI glass sculpture.

A glass of wine is an additional !8………..Coffee or tea $8 and a dessert wine to go with your cookies…..$24……….tax and tip……… so your lunch is now $100………and worth every dollar.  The view alone is worth it.

This is one of the more curious pieces of art in this exhibit.

What do I find more interesting……the paintings or the people looking at them?

BOTH.

The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation was started 18 years before his death in 2008……giving grants to people whose work and ideas would not happen without support from the foundation.

There are over 250 works in this exhibition………..you will have to plan on several hours to fully appreciate this exhibit.

This is Roberts “FISH HOUSE”……..part of his 20 acre estate on Captiva Island where I used to vacation in Winter.

Tom and Charly…..budding artistes

This afternoon my friend Julie from Paris and I were picnicking in Central park at Columbus Circle.

We met two charming art students who were sketching and painting and we admired their work.

FACES at the FLEA………renamed the GRAND BAZAAR!

The local FLEA has gotten a lot “grander”……and is now called….the Columbus Avenue GRAND BAZAAR.  How bizarre is that!


SASCHA a star at the NYC BALLET [at the Met Opera House] is a regular……..and LARRY who is known as the KING of FLEA…….sets up his stall every Sunday……..rain or shine!

The only thing I bought last Sunday was one MICKEY MOUSE…and one MINNIE MOUSE.

PARSONS Fashion Graduates do a Run-way Show

A selecet grop of graduates are chosen to show their designs on the runway.

MARGO was chosen to show her designs.  It was a fantastic showing of talented designers.  I loved the show.
