BETHESDA FOUNTAIN in Central Park

The Bethesda Angel looks her best in the summer……….  her pool  is filled with water lillies.

In 1868, Emma Stibbens was given the commission to design the largest fountain in NYC..  She was the first woman in New York City to receive such a commission.

NORMAN MANSION is for Sale

It is in Grosse Pointe Farms Michigan………..just down the street from where my sister lives.  The Detroit river is just a few blocks away.  The is an enormous pool in the back of the house…………it is empty and ready to move in.

The price is astounding………just ONE MILLION.  The flight from Laguardia to Detroit is just an hour and twenty minutes……..a drive to the Hamptons is five hours.  So………it is a nice week-end get-a way.

THE STREETS OF NEW YORK

Every street in MANHATTAN is a photographers delight.  Doesn’t matter where you point your camera……….all you have to do is snap.

RAUSCHENBERG at the MOMA

This is one of the more curious pieces of art in this exhibit.

What do I find more interesting……the paintings or the people looking at them?

BOTH.

The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation was started 18 years before his death in 2008……giving grants to people whose work and ideas would not happen without support from the foundation.

There are over 250 works in this exhibition………..you will have to plan on several hours to fully appreciate this exhibit.

This is Roberts “FISH HOUSE”……..part of his 20 acre estate on Captiva Island where I used to vacation in Winter.

ABCV the new Vegetarian Restaurant at ABC Carpet

Jean-Georges new restaurant ABCV at ABC Carpet………..is a delightful addition to the NY restaurant scene.  The menu is so precise……..nothing is random………the ingredients of every dish on the menu, as well as the bar drinks,  are all gearged toward your health……..no gimmicks used here.

You will not experience the smells of roasting meats floating thru the air.

The room is so light…….so airy………a touch of color in the lime green chairs……nothing in the decor that will compete with the food on your plate.

An insert in the menu goes into detail of the health benefits of the various plants that will show up on your plate…………colorful…….beautiful………not overly fussy, just ingredients that go sublimely together……….layers of taste sensations that surprise your taste buds.

CLICK ON THE MUSHROOMS:  Huge…..and a dressing charged with yuzukosho.  You are also informed that vitamin B will help manage your emotional and physical stress [who knew this lowly fungus could do that].  The caramelized fennel is a surprising accompaniment.

The pavlova with berries and sorbet is adorned with snippets of “Johnny-jump-up” pansies.

RAINBOW over Central Park

A very brief thunderstorm in the late afternoon………….and a sliver of a rainbow……casting a brilliant light over my terrace.
