On Friday, Don and I dropped in at GILA’S for a nosh. ……[on East 23rd street].

GILA’s menu is authentic Mediterranean…….and worth the schlepp on the 23rd street crosstown bus to get there.

Her rugelach is sublime……….puff pastry, strawberries, raisins, walnuts and a touch of love.

It is a simple Continental Cafe…………no pretense………. just delightful cuisine.

GILA lets her walls serve as a gallery for students down the street at The School of Visual arts.  This painting [a New Yorker] was on exhibit.

MEET THE ARTIST:  Paul Thiesing…….a student in the Illustration Department at the SVA.

Paul’s painting is now in our collection……..on the wall of my art studio………hanging next to the Picaasso.  Marie Laurencin [Picasso’s lover ] is the painting in the bottom right corner.
