JURASSIC PARK at Toys “R” US

TOYS “R” US is a trip!  What kid wouldn’t get excited seeing thousands of toys……and wishing that SANTA would drop them all off at their house……or apartment!                                                                                                                                               [As if they would all fit down the chimney]!

From my terrace overlooking Central Park the FIREWORKS woke me up as the Midnight Marathon began…….[tis' true......I nodded off before the ball dropped in Times Square].

LUNCH at the Edison Hotel Cafe

The EDISON HOTEL in Times Square……..midtown Manhattan……..a campy place to stay in NY.

The hotel was built in 1931 and has the classic look and feel of an Old New York City Hotel…….very Art Deco in design.

The lobby echoes  the same grand style of  Radio City Music Hall.  Deco all the way.

The murals are a camp !  Empire State Building looms in the background.

Specially woven carpet copies the original from 1930.

CORNUCOPIA………the mural designed by Roman Gregory Chatov .  He also made a large hand-painted silk shawl for the dancer Isadora Duncan……….the very one that strangled her to death when it got caught in the hub cap of the car she was riding in.

CLICK ON TO SEE THE BUGATTI:

Sitting at the counter is fun…..try the KASHA VARNISHKES…..just one will do it.  It’s a Jewish thing…..kasha, noodles and onions fried in chicken fat.

Choose any booth………..all bring an experience.

“Buenos dias…..may I take your order” ?

Diner coffee……..but a cut above the usual.  MILK not cream!

Lemon coke…..instead of an “egg creme”.

Burger burned to a crisp…….akin to shoe leather.  But, who cares?

The egg salad was a better choice……..crispy bacon …….lettuce and tomato.  Yummy.

Frozen………..deep fried……..just like they should be in a NY diner.

My luncheon guest knew what to do with them.

Matilda….the campy waitress fits right in.

Bud in the bottle…….not on tap.  I will return !Radio City Music Hall,

HAPPY NEW YEAR ! Fireworks in Central Park

The view from my terrace was spectacular.  I didn’t have to go to Times Square and join the million and a half who gathered there to welcome in the New Year.

The big “blow out” at the end…….nearly blew out the lens on my camera.

BROADWAY Sings in Bryant Park

Thousands of New Yorkers…..and a few thousand tourists ate their lunch today in Bryant Park.  Weather was FAB.  The entertainment was FAB…….it was BROADWAY DAY !

GETTING A TAN…..and waiting for the show to start.

The stars of PRISCILLA Queen of the Desert were there.

Tony Sheldon……..Will Swenson and Nick Adams made an appearance and they were sensational.

Nick Adams………without his costume.

Kick up those heels, girl!

The crowd……waiting for the next show.

The cast from MAMA MIA……….waiting “in the wings”.

MEMPHIS didn’t show!  Bummer !

Tom meets Priscilla……….which one is the real Priscilla?

He’s not in the show……….but he definately was “The Show”.

She had to eat her lunch standing up.  I refused to give up my chair.  Besides, I’m older than she is.

Too busy reading to watch the show.

“Oh dear………..I missed the show”.

Time out for a beer and a burger.

Others chose to eat in the SOUTHWEST PORCH…….they serve a wicked Soft Shelled Crab Sandwich.

There weren’t many chess players today………….they were all watching the show.

Movies show on the BIG SCREEN in the evenings at sundown.

We walked back via TIMES SQUARE………where the tourists are “the entertainment”.   New York City……….ya gotta love it !

How to beat the DOG DAYS OF SUMMER

Even the doggies are suffering……….lots of tongues hanging out.

Taking shade under a telephone kiosk.

She charges $2 and is raking it in.

Bask on a rock………seems like it would be cooler in the water !

Look for one of these.

Without Sun block………

With Sun Block !

Too HOT to row………hoist a sail.

Hire a Pedi-cab and let this cutie do the peddling!

Hire a carriage……..and leave the trotting to the horse.

Pretend you are in Hawaii.

Cool off in Times Square. [Yeah, right]!

Take a shower in the fountain in Washington Square.

Paddle around in the pool at my Swim Club.

Estelle took a dip…..and maybe one too many!

Or reserve a Cabana for the day………with the Opera House nearby.

Paddle with Ocean Kayak……..in the Hudson River……….it’s free.

Take a cruise around Manhattan.

Catch a breeze along the Hudson River………..but today it is too DAMN hot.

Row your boat………or sit in the shade under Bow Bridge.

Carry a big umbrella.

Carry a small umbrella.

Sit under a paper umbrella.

Sit in the shade……..under your umbrella.

Take a nap in the garden at MOMA.

Wear something airy and frilly.

DO NOT sit in an outdoor cafe…………way to caliente!

Ride the WHAC A MOLE at the Wohlman Rink.

Hang out on the Great Lawn…at 80th street.

Sit on a pier in the Hudson River.

Sit on a chair in Times Square……….it is the ONLY thing that is FREE !

Cool your feet in the Yacht Pond of the East Side of the park.

Hike up your skirt and walk in Bethesda Fountain.

Climb out your window…….with your dog…….and sit on a ledge.  DUH!

Or just “air condition” your legs with holes in your stockings.

In New York…..anything goes.

TO READ……….OR NOT TO READ

My day starts with the New York Times…………

and a glass of water mellon juice.  I grow them on my terrace.

Hmmmmmmm………….the POPE  popped up in the paper.

Jesus loves him….this I know!  For the Bible tells me so!

Or so says your Facebook.

O.K.  Who really wants to read the steps in the subway!  Duh!

In the summer…….the main reading room at the 42nd street library is a cool place to sit…..whether or not you read a book.

Oh no!  The “F” word!

At my Doctor’s Office.

For the students at NYU in the Village

Oh Erica!  Your 15 years of fame is sooooooooooo over!

Sheet……….

Sounds like something Congressman Weiner said!

Reading a text………who’s next?

Try reading this book………….by a student in the National Scholastic Art Exhibition.

The Sukkah City Design Competition winner was just down the block.

I read at least three magazines a day……….this guy in the subway loves me!

Don Reads his music every morning….for the last 6000 mornings.

I did NOT read this book.  I do NOT bake doggie cookies!

Times Square…….BOOK A NIGHT WITH FAME!

Says it all!
