From my terrace overlooking Central Park the FIREWORKS woke me up as the Midnight Marathon began…….[tis' true......I nodded off before the ball dropped in Times Square].
The EDISON HOTEL in Times Square……..midtown Manhattan……..a campy place to stay in NY.
The hotel was built in 1931 and has the classic look and feel of an Old New York City Hotel…….very Art Deco in design.
The lobby echoes the same grand style of Radio City Music Hall. Deco all the way.
The murals are a camp ! Empire State Building looms in the background.
Specially woven carpet copies the original from 1930.
CORNUCOPIA………the mural designed by Roman Gregory Chatov . He also made a large hand-painted silk shawl for the dancer Isadora Duncan……….the very one that strangled her to death when it got caught in the hub cap of the car she was riding in.

Sitting at the counter is fun…..try the KASHA VARNISHKES…..just one will do it. It’s a Jewish thing…..kasha, noodles and onions fried in chicken fat.
Choose any booth………..all bring an experience.
“Buenos dias…..may I take your order” ?
Diner coffee……..but a cut above the usual. MILK not cream!
Lemon coke…..instead of an “egg creme”.
Burger burned to a crisp…….akin to shoe leather. But, who cares?
The egg salad was a better choice……..crispy bacon …….lettuce and tomato. Yummy.
Frozen………..deep fried……..just like they should be in a NY diner.
My luncheon guest knew what to do with them.
Matilda….the campy waitress fits right in.
Bud in the bottle…….not on tap. I will return !Radio City Music Hall,

The view from my terrace was spectacular. I didn’t have to go to Times Square and join the million and a half who gathered there to welcome in the New Year.
The big “blow out” at the end…….nearly blew out the lens on my camera.
Even the doggies are suffering……….lots of tongues hanging out.
Taking shade under a telephone kiosk.
She charges $2 and is raking it in.
Bask on a rock………seems like it would be cooler in the water !

Hire a Pedi-cab and let this cutie do the peddling!
Hire a carriage……..and leave the trotting to the horse.
Pretend you are in Hawaii.
Cool off in Times Square. [Yeah, right]!
Take a shower in the fountain in Washington Square.
Paddle around in the pool at my Swim Club.
Estelle took a dip…..and maybe one too many!
Or reserve a Cabana for the day………with the Opera House nearby.
Paddle with Ocean Kayak……..in the Hudson River……….it’s free.
Take a cruise around Manhattan.
Catch a breeze along the Hudson River………..but today it is too DAMN hot.
Row your boat………or sit in the shade under Bow Bridge.
Carry a big umbrella.
Carry a small umbrella.
Sit under a paper umbrella.
Sit in the shade……..under your umbrella.
Take a nap in the garden at MOMA.
Wear something airy and frilly.
DO NOT sit in an outdoor cafe…………way to caliente!
Ride the WHAC A MOLE at the Wohlman Rink.
Hang out on the Great Lawn…at 80th street.
Sit on a pier in the Hudson River.
Sit on a chair in Times Square……….it is the ONLY thing that is FREE !
Cool your feet in the Yacht Pond of the East Side of the park.
Hike up your skirt and walk in Bethesda Fountain.
Climb out your window…….with your dog…….and sit on a ledge. DUH!
Or just “air condition” your legs with holes in your stockings.
In New York…..anything goes.
My day starts with the New York Times…………
and a glass of water mellon juice. I grow them on my terrace.
Hmmmmmmm………….the POPE popped up in the paper.
Jesus loves him….this I know! For the Bible tells me so!
Or so says your Facebook.
O.K. Who really wants to read the steps in the subway! Duh!
In the summer…….the main reading room at the 42nd street library is a cool place to sit…..whether or not you read a book.
