Group Show….Six Artists…..MEHU GALLERY nyc

Prints and Drawings at the MEHU GALLERY

The MEHU GALLERY…….at 21 West 100th street……..is a neighborhood treasure trove of art.  The current show……PRINTS and DRAWINGS.……..exhibits the work of 90 artists.

Opening night was almost a mayhem.  90 artists and all of their friends.  But, it was a fun and exciting opening.

nyc “GIRLS”…. season 2…..begins tonight

Lena Dunham……writer…..producer and star of the hit TV show ….”GIRLS” starts her second season Sunday Night.

In the next to the last show of Season 1…….the episode centered around her reading  one of her poems at the Salmugundi Art Club.

The Club  is in a beautiful historic brownstone in Greenwich Village.

Donald Silver……..noted author over over 100 children’s books and another famous artist…….Patricia J. Wynne are members of the Club.

The library is a favorite place for members and their friends to gather.

The library is used for discussions on art [ and lots of other subjects].  The Club adopted it present name after Washington Irving published his potpourri of wit and wisdom called “The Salmagundi Papers”.

STORIES FROM 3 PRINTMAKERS

Throngs of friends, students and patrons showed up at the MEHU GALLERY on Thursday night for the Opening Reception of the current show:  STORIES OF THREE PRINTMAKERS.  The show will be up until May 29, 2012………giving you time to catch the exhibition of these three exceptional artists.

Meet:  Patricia J. Wynne……….on of the talented printmakers in the show.

Meet:  Nadine Butterfield……….printmaker. caricaturist and cartoonist extraordinaire.

Meet Patricia J. Wynne

She has illustrated almost 200 books……..and her work has appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times,  The Wall Street Journal and Scientific American.

Meet:   Nadine Butterfield

She is an illustrator…….having worked for theatre’s  and local businesses where she lives in Mt. Vernon.  Her caricatures and cartoons  have been used by IBM and BMG music.

Meet:  Bruce Waldman

He has been teaching at the School of Visual Arts for over 25 years.  He is the director of the New York Society of Etchers.  His prints are in the permanent collections of the Met Museum in NY City…….and the Royal Collection, London.

The current show of prints from these three artists is a “must see” to add to your list.  The Closing Reception is Sunday, May 20th, from 3 -6 pm.
