EASTER PARADE……30 Cute Dogs and One Pig.

The stars of the Easter Parade on 5th Avenue………….were the Canines!……..nary a Feline in sight.  And ONE pig………but she was adorable.

And here is the promised PIG.  Or, Sow?  Oink, oink !

EASTER PARADE……..and the Men wore HATS too.

The EASTER PARADE on Fifth Avenue was spectacular……….and perhaps a bit peculiar!  But the men were strutting their stuff.  Some sweet….some tuff…..and some……well??????! ! ! !

And every year………..he is a hit.  Outrageous?  NO.   After all…this is NEW YORK…….this is why we live here!

EASTER HATS……….just finished making mine!

The EASTER PARADE  on Fifth Avenue started in 1948 with Fred Astaire.  And ever since, New Yorkers don their bonnets and parade up and down the Avenue.  Watch for me and my hat.               HAPPY EASTER

A WALK AROUND WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK

Washington Square Park at the foot of Fifth Avenue……is always a fun spot to spend an afternoon.

The first arch was erected to celebrate the centennial of George Washington’s inauguration………was constructed of plaster and wood.

The Empire State Building.………..popping into view up on 34th Street.

The arch was designed by Stanford White…..erected in 1892……modeled after the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

These Greek Revival houses date from 1830……….a very desireable place to live.

When I first moved to New York…….I turned down an offer to rent a “floor-thru”……for $255 a month.  Today the same apartment is $8000 a month.

The apartments on the West side of the park are reserved for Professors at NYU.

No. ONE Fifth Avenue……now a co-op……one bedrooms apartments from $1.2 mil.  Higher in the tower…….add another million.

Number ONE University Place….on the corner of the park…….An artist friend of mine…….Sally Carlin….shared an apartment here with  Ethel Mertz………yep…..of I Love Lucy fame.

Judson Memorial Baptist Church…………home to the hippy happenings of the 1960″s………of which i used to participate.  They were “crazy man”.

Radio City Music Hall….and the Rockettes are still putting on their show.

And the New York City buses are still advertising it.

Tom is baking more cookies!  For what?  Next Christmas?

My nephew David’s name is at the top of the list!  I heard he was a naughty boy!

Tiny little Telly.  I bought it!  We had a TV like that when I was a kid.

And the Santa I sold to PAPYRUS is in their window…..now at half price!  So my royalty just dropped by half!  Such is the life of an artist!

Theres is a funky little shop on Fifth avenue with Mermaids and Mermen just waiting to be hung…………on your tree!  Glitz galore !

UNIQLO Heats up New York

What the heck it “HeatTech” ?  A material invented the Hiroshima-born fashion emporium……….a combination of Rayon and milk proteins.

The store is HUGH!  Crazy…..and fun.

HeatTech………generates and traps body heat……….does it work?

Thousands of shoppers…….tourist and New Yorkers………..have invades this new store on Fifth Avenue.

Hot pink lights……a glass stairway……. leads to your winter warmth.

Micro Acrylic Fibers……add air pockets……….and skin!

The jackets at $99 are flying out of the store……….in every color.

The mirrors are dizzying………..but who cares!

Turtle Necks are $19.90…….and $12.90 for a Camisole.

A special antibacterial  agent helps to control your B O !

Lots of kooky outerwear to choose from .

Leggings and leg warmers…..stretch to a perfect fit.

BONWIT TELLERS DOLLHOUSE

For their Christmas Window on 5th Avenue………..Bonwit’s have a DOLL  HOUSE.  These “dolls” have had too much champagne…….or not enough.

Perhaps they are “courtesans” ?

LUNCH WITH THE LOVELY LAURA

 

 

We met at AYZA…….Wine and Chocolate Bar on West 31st street.

Laura and Chrystie…………and a very sweet waitress helped us decide which chocolate is the most divine.  Jacque Torres champagne truffles or ……..

Molten Chocolate cupcake with raspberry sauce.  Good choice.

We paused for water at the garden in the middle of the street in front of the Flatiron Building.

Giant Head sculpture in Madison Square Park by the Spanish artist Jaume Plensa.  Her name is “Echo”………..44 feet tall……inspited by the Greek mythological nymph.

She was having a ball with her chalk.

Stopped for YOGO on the corner of the park.

We picked up a Rustic Tuscan loaf at Eataly food emporium on Fifth Avenue.

Georgia peaches were enticing.

We strolled up Fifth Avenue to 31st street……..toward the Empire State Building

We liked the menu…………but we just ate!  Back later………..for dinner.

We headed for the High Line, the new park built on the railroad tracks along the Hudson River.

Met two really charming students….Rosemary and Brittany…

so cute…..I wanted to take them home with me…………for tea on the terrace.

We stopped in at the BORTOLAMI Gallery on West 20th street.

The current show is by the artist Thilo Heinzman.

Laura met one of her clients………….the director of the gallery.  Cute guy!
