LUNCH at Jean- Georges Nougatine

Had to get away from my art studio for a while [Irene really did her number].

Treated myself to lunch at Jean Georges Nougatine.  His creations are astonishing………from simple dishes to unexpected combos……I was dazzled.

The restaurant is located in the Trump Hotel on Central Park West……at Columbus Circle……just steps away from my apartment.

The dining room is simple, friendly, open and airy………..with views into Central Park.

The bar is very casual…….you can bop in and bop out.

The open kitchen is in the back area.

PRIX FIXE LUNCH ……..$32……..what a bargain!  The icy cold water just keeps coming!

OMG!  If bread is the staff of life………keep it coming.

Watermelon and goat cheese….with a sprinkle of sea salt.  Loved the sea salt……feta was OK….but the watermelon was tired.

Cold berry soup….asked for MORE.  Then I needed a toothpick………blackberry seeds.

Stuffed artichoke and a dipping sauce……sublime.

I wasn’t thrilled with the cold salmon……….

So the waiter traded it for a Filet Mignon.  Heaven!

Warm chocolate cake………..vanilla bean ice cream……I wanted the recipe………..and got it.

The waiter…..Kenny was a dream.  Hot tea………and kept it coming.  I wanted to take him home………..we all need someone to make our tea………18 cups a day.

SUNSET RAYS in Central Park

Looking into the park……….over the Century apartments.

Fifth Avenue at 68th street.

Schiller…….and the last rays of the sun setting over Columbus Circle

And a carrot for a nose………

The four towers of the Beresford Apartments on 80th street and CPW.

Fifth Avenue and East 66th street.

The bandshell in the Promenade at 72nd street.

The Bethesda Fountain rising high over Bethesda Terrace at 72nd street.

It’s all MONKEY BUSINESS

I thought I was at the North Pole this morning. It was cold enough to freeze your_ _ _ _’s off. But, I needed  more ornaments for my tree.  I headed out to Columbus Circle where a Christmas Market has popped up.

I was right.  An Arctic Glacier had moved in !  Two of em’.

The Market is at Columbus Circle

The Time Warner Towers……tower over the Market.

The first shop I walked into…….BINGO!  Exactly what I was looking for.

MONKEY BUSINESS. The owner/Designer is Jamie Shapiro Goldhagen.

Thousands of fabulous hand carved ornaments……from Bali……where Jamie spends six months of the year with the artists.

“Say no evil, see no evil, hear no evil”.  Obviously, they have never been in a New York subway !

A little Christmas prezzie for your hairdresser?

Why did the chicken cross the road?

To see the Rosanna Danna Banana smoking her cigar !

And for those who can’t wait until Spring to plant their garden………

Miss Kitty is looking for a home………or your tree.

Or, if you are like my artist friend, Patricia, you’ll take home the entire Zoo.

Mr. Raul is one of the top sellers.   You may remember him from his appearance on a U.S. Postage stamp.

And it’ s not over till the fat lady……………….hangs on your bough!

We all need another cat!  This one in the guise of a CD Cabinet !

Robert is there……in this freezing cold with his warm smile……..to help you decide which little Piggy you should take home.

BALI-hi, BALI-low………..also to be found in their other Market in Union Square on 14th Street.
