Photographs I took of the PHOTOGRAPHERS at Fashion week Sept 2012

Getting into the tent for a runway show during FASHION WEEK is a cat fight!  The RUNWAY PHOTOGRAPHERS  have to fit into a very tight spot.  They are allotted one square foot and their lens cannot swing from side to side.  If they break this house rule they are kicked out by the production team.  Their goal is to capture a full lenght photo of every model.  They have to catch her with her eyes open and her front foot must be down and flat.  They tend to use 70-200 mm  zooms.  Most shows only last about 10 minutes so they have to shoot thousands of images to get their perfect shots.

 

This is the view I get of the photographers from my spot in the VIP BOX!  I get rude remarks from them…they are squeezed in and I sit there with my little Panasonic  ZS 20 and  a glass of champagne.  Such a rough life!

 

Most of the photographers in this group are paparazzi.…….trying to get a shot that will bring big bucks.  Some are from other countries covering the event for a magazine or newspaper.  Some are very sweet……….others are “killers” and will trample over anyone who gets in their way………. to get their shot.  I miss a lot of celebrities because I stand back from the mayhem.  It is not a glamorous task but I do have fun.

 

Of course, Bill Cunningham was there every day…….shooting like mad.

He shoots 35mm slides.  No digital!  He has over one million negs in his files.

CELEBRITIES SPOTTED AT Fashion Week NYC 2012

Catching celebrities at Lincoln Center as they arrive for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2012 is NOT EASY!  Hoards of paparazzi are there to snap photos they can sell to the magazines and the newspapers.

Of course, Joan Rivers……looking all of her 21 years of age………..was fabulous and took time to pose.

And her shoes [and toenails]  looked fabulous too.

Andie Mac Dowell……and ageless woman……..looks great year after year…..and her daughter has inherited her good looks.

Yes……we all know who she is….and the power she holds in the fashion world!  She is also a judge on Project Runway Season Ten.

Was sweet to run into Gretchen Jones.……….the winner of Project Runway Season 8.  Have you seen her new line of clothes?

And who can forget the flamboyant Austen Scarlett of Project Runway.  So adorable.

Ahhhhhh…...Buffy Jashanmal..…also from Project Runway and her fellow contestant Beatrice Guappo.

You’ll remember Raul Osorio and Alica Hardesty from the same season.

Rachel ZOE.…………whipped by so fast all I caught was her hair [and where was her stylist]  ?

And who doesn’t love “Miss J” of the Tyra Banks America’s Next Top Model.  You go girl!

Johnny Weir.……Olympic figure skater………some say too gay for the super straight world of the Olympics.  Just gay enough for the New York crowd….we LOVE him !

When Julie speaks…..as young as she is……the fashion world listens.  Me too.

Linda Fargo…..VP of Bergdorf Goodman…….makes sure she gets only the most luxurious goods for her store.

Bill Cunningham…..the most famous photographer of the fashion scene in New York.  He has over one million negatives in his files……….of the rich and famous……..and their clothes.

FASHION WEEK 2012 Spring…..the FUN…the FAB…and the FAR-OUT

Twas another morning of FASHION MADNESS on the Plaza at Lincoln Center for Fashion Week Spring 2012  In one hour I took 1000 photos of people arriving to see a runway show.  Here are just 50 of them.

Bill Cunningham…the FASHION photographer for the New York Times……….was bopping all over the Lincoln Center Plaza…..along with 300 other photographers.  We do have fun!

EASTER PARADE……..and the Men wore HATS too.

The EASTER PARADE on Fifth Avenue was spectacular……….and perhaps a bit peculiar!  But the men were strutting their stuff.  Some sweet….some tuff…..and some……well??????! ! ! !

And every year………..he is a hit.  Outrageous?  NO.   After all…this is NEW YORK…….this is why we live here!
