Forty One Artists donated their work to this years Housing Works charity event. All profits from DESIGN ON A DIME go to Get a Room for homeless and low-income New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS.

There is a Herb Ritts photo for sale……”Madonna v. San Pedro 1990″ Herb was a legendary photographer was struck down by AIDS in 2002.
Housing Works dedicated employees were at the sale to assisting New Yorkers in their selections.
My purchases……an orchid, two frogs and a sofa to be delivered later.
DESIGN ON A DIME……..an extravagant interior design benefit presented by HOUSING WORKS at the Metropolitan Pavilion on West 18th Street began on april 26……….and lasts through the week-end. 50 of the worlds top designers participate and create room vignettes. The founding chair this year is the interior designer James Huniford.
The floral displays were provided by the Michael Day Studio………..and they are spectacular. Crystal Vases were donated by Christofle.
DESIGN ON A DIME………..a spectacular fund raiser……put together by Housing Works Thrift Stores…………raising money for people living with AIDS. The event is hosted in the Metropolitan Pavilion on West 18th street.
There were 50 room settings this year………..each done by a noted designer……….every thing is donated………and for sale…….all at reasonable prices. There were hundreds of donors who made this event possible. A few of them: ACE HOTEL……….APARTMENT 48……….BALLARD DESIGNS……..CALVIN KLEIN HOME……BLOOMINGDALE’S……… CHRISTOFLE……..COWTAN & TOUT.
When we got to Lincoln Center………..it was bright and sunny………..no rain in sight……..[we've already had 60 inches this year] .

Chase Findley wasn’t dancing today…..but was there for all of his admirers.
Security in NYC was beefed up today…………
Clotilde Otranto was conducting today……..Mercurial Manoeuvres……Music by Dmitri shostakovich……..choreography by Christopher Wheeldon.
We picked up our “comps” at the ticket window…………thank you Clotilde.
Curtain up! I got caught with the camera and was told NO PHOTOS ! ! !
During intermission we views the photos of the dancers along the balcony.
Our friend…..Charles Askegard was dancing today…….”EPISODES”………..choreography by George Balanchine. Soon Charles will have his final bow. Farewell performance is October 9th.
Jonathan Stafford joined the company in 1999.
Wendy Whelan has been a principal since 1991. OMG…..she is such an incredible dancer.

Ran into our actor friend……..Shawn Kingston.………who has worked with TilerPeck a principal ballerina since 2009.
Housing Works Thrift volunteers……….Teddy and Gayle……were our guests today. To very lovely ladies.
When it rains………a taxi is the only way to get home…….yes, of course we had no umbrellas!
The HW THRIFT had a fun opening last night to kick off the start of FASHION WEEK IN NEW YORK……..took in $60,000. Not bad for a thrift store. The money goes to help people living with AIDS……….meds and rent.
JOY……one of the loyal customers….found a treasure.
