FETE PARADISO / Bicycle Carousel

FÊTE PARADISO……….is just a short ferry ride to Governor’s Island.…….to a fantastic world of “fairground rides” from the 19th and 20th centuries.  Two Frenchmen………...Francis Staub and Regis Masclet have joined together their collections of antique carousels……..brought them to New York and now New Yorkers can enjoy this traveling festival……..and it’s free.

$3 a ride is all it costs to enjoy these CAROUSELS and vintage carnival rides.

The Bicycle Carousel….VELOCIPEDES 1892……is one of the only two in existence.  The other is in Paris…….[featured in the movie "Midnight in Paris"].

It was created in Paris to induce Parisians to take up the new vogue mode of transportation.

Put your foot on the pedal.  The faster you pedal…the faster it goes.

These two lovely ladies LOVED the ride.

The paintings that adore the baffle boards encircling the top of the Carousel are simply fantastic…………nostalgia taking us back to another era.

Bernard warned us that if your  foot slips off the pedal….you will NOT get it back on!
